At the helm is David D. Lott, known around town as “Mr. Catfish” or “The Catfish King.” His love of food, music and community has shaped this place from the start.
Austin
Rooted in family & hard work
David learned business from his father at the Aristocrat Lounge, a staple of East Austin’s old-school party scene. That’s also where he fell for music, especially the blues.
In the ’90s he managed Catfish Station on 6th Street, where his standards for quality and consistency took root. In 1998 he opened the original Mr. Catfish & More on Springdale Road, later adding locations in North Austin and Elgin. Today the flagship is at 1144 Airport Blvd, Suite 220, in Eastland Plaza.
A menu that speaks to the soul
The signature dish is the Big Cat: a whole fried catfish served bones and all, with rave reviews from locals and visitors from around the world. Beyond the catfish you’ll find the soul food staples:
